| I have a 2000 chrysler cirrus with a 2.4. The alt belt broke the other day and I just replaced it, but now the engine won't turn over. I figuered that the battery was drained so I jumped it but still won't turn over. I then thought that I might have it on too tight so I loosened a little and that didn't help either, any ideas. Thanx, Tim |

Remove the belt and see if it'll start that way - sounds like something is locked up. If it does start, check the pulleys driven by that belt and see which one won't turn with your hand.

Thank you for your response, I did what you said and the car started without the belt so when I checked the pullys it was the a/c one that was locked up, please tell me there is an easy fix, thanks again.

Replace the compressor or put a pulley kit on it. That should take care of it.
