My 1998 Honda Accord (6 cylinder) has intermittent starting problems. The engine cranks but does not start. This happens with no warning (sometimes weeks elapse in between failures) but every time, after calling AAA and getting the car towed to the mechanic shop, the car starts immediately...therefore, my mechanic can not diagnose the problem.

Here's a silver bullet that has fixed just about every Honda I've seen with that problem - and I've seen more than a few.  Replace this $50 relay (yours might be in a slightly mounting configuration but it's always under the dash on the left side). The Honda Part number for a 1999 model is 39400S82A01.

Let me know if this helps - I'll be it will!
