Hi I have a 1993 jeep grand Cherokee limited and the front passenger side
studs for the lugs keep breaking. I have replaced the rim studs lugs and
rotor. And it broke again what could be causing this? Please email back

Steve

I haven't seen that before - the only thing I can think of would be
over tightening. They should be torqued to about 100 lbs ft, no more.
How many times has this happened and how long is it between incidents?

Richard

I got the jeep a month ago. About a week after I got it was the first time they broke and I take it to a shop and had it fixed. About two weeks after that, which would have been Sunday the 26  of July I checked them and they where lose all the lugs so I took a 4way and tighten them down. Drove about 30 miles and checking them every now and then. And last night when I got ready to head home I had two lugs and two studs left. Also it is opening or oval shaping the holes on the rim. Could it be something bent on the hub or the holes where the studs sit in the back of the hub be stripped? thanks for helping.

Are these factory wheels or chrome aftermarket ones? The wrong lug nuts (different degree on the bevel) will cause them to repeatedly come loose like that.  Make sure the lug nuts are the right bevel for those wheels. Richard

They are factory wheels off another Jeep, but they are new lugs nuts. How would I get the right ones? Steve

Take one of the NON problem wheel lug nuts to the dealer and get five just like it. Richard

Hey just wanted to say thank you for all your help. The bevel was wrong the place that fixed it the first time just used the cheap lugs instead of getting the right ones. so I did all the work myself and spend the little more to get the right ones. Again thank you!  Steve
