Hi, my name is Stacy

I am so glad to have come across your page that hopefully I will get answers... recently I got my oil changed and the place didn’t put oil in my car, the engine got seized on the driver side, found inside the engine that a few rocker rollers were completely ruined. Replaced them, got a new battery, new spark plugs now the car runs once again.. Problem is, it runs weird, at times it drives just perfect, other times it is really a slow start I mean I floor it and it doesn’t kick out of the slowness until about 25 mph or so.. Then continually I have to floor it because it seems to not get enough power to keep at the speed i am holding the accelerator. I’ve been told it's the fuel injectors, but I feel it has something to do with the fuel pump, or maybe the filter... if I stay in park and rev the engine it drives fine until a few minutes later then back to the slowness.. Any ideas???

That does sound a lot like a fuel starvation problem; If you can get somebody to check the fuel pressure, you may indeed find it dropping under load.  If so, the first thing I'd do would be to replace the fuel filter (I like to blow backwards through it into a plastic container to see what's in there) and see what that does.

It seems a bit peculiar; however, that all this happened after the near-meltdown of the engine- I assume it wasn't doing all this before?

If you don't have anybody who can check the fuel pressure, have the filter changed by somebody you trust (is there anybody?) and have them report whether or not it was clogged.

If the filter is clear, the pump may be weak, but you'll surely need to check the fuel pressure to follow that path of diagnosis.  Incidentally, some of the parts houses have relatively inexpensive fuel pressure gauges (like about $40) on hand - some of them might even loan you a gauge - I think Auto Zone has a program like that.

Let me know what you find... I feel your pain.

God bless you!
Richard

Thanks for the fuel filter idea it worked... Now I have another question for you,  after i have drove for a while and turn off my engine I see steam coming from under the front of the hood, all my gauges read fine and my coolant is good, it really steams when I have had the heat going, does this sound as a hose leak or bad hose.? As in radiator hose, I am scared to open the hood because I don’t want to get burnt, when I smell it, it doesn’t smell like anything is burning, it’s just as something is hot, hints steam.. What do you think? Thank a bunch for you help and time God bless. Stacy
